Post-quals at Stanford

The day is finally here. Isn’t it funny that I find it so hard to wake up every morning, but today, oh today, I was up at 6 am. I was like, what the hell. My presentation is not until noon..

I eventually got ready and reached the exam hall. Gave the presentation. I was quite conscious of what I spoke and that felt nice. I was asked to step outside while the committee discussed on the questions. I was called back in, and I answered all of their questions but one.

One of faculty smiled at me and remarked, Bhamla, you are between us and lunch, and that’s not a good thing.

As I stepped outside, I heaved a sigh of relief.

I looked around. The world still seemed the same. Nothing had changed much. It goes on, I guess.

I’ll know my results tomorrow at 5. I have a feeling I’ll pass. Hence the shout-out to the world. If I fail, this will serve me as reminder that I tried my best.

To give anything less than your best is to sacrifice the gift.

The fluid droplet quote is superb. Stealing. Of course you’ll pass. Who are you kidding? [And drip drip drip the pressure of expectation grows…]
