100th blog post – Another goal accomplished
I love that feeling. Of stamping mission accomplished across my goals. Whether its writing mission accomplished or checking off items on your checklist, there is a certain joy with getting things done. No ?
Sometimes there are things that are clearly awesome and don’t need justification of why it’s such a big deal that you’ve done them. Running a half marathon falls in that category. If you can run 13.1 miles no matter how long it takes, you have my respect.
Unlike running, writing a hundred posts isn’t that big of a deal. But it is for me.
Why? Because I am super distracted. I do ten things at a time. In fact, initially my dream was to become the master of one trade but now I think I’m destined to be a jack. Of tens of things.
So, when I feel passionate about something, I feel the need to do it for a certain amount of time till im assured it’s going to stick. Anybody can write a blog post once and forget about it, but to maintain a blog, IMO, that takes some work.
I asked CL* once what characteristic she liked in a guy. She replied consistency. And I thought to myself. Hey that makes so much sense. I hate people who are inconsistent. I still remember that day when I created my orkut profile years earlier and I had spent hours thinking about what to write in the ‘About Me’ box. I had no clue who I was. How do you describe yourself in words? That seemed to me like a very deep question. I finally decided, I’d use it to write something I wanted to be. So, I think I finally wrote – from chalta hai attitude to perfection”. ( Hindi phrase – translates to “It’ll do” )
And that’s why this hundredth blog post is so special to me. It’s one step closer to consistency. One step away from chalta hai. I told myself this long ago.
Nahin chalta hai boss. Nahin chalta hai.
( It won’t do boss. It won’t do. )
P.S. After dinner while driving back she noticed I was deep in thought. She looked at me and said if it helps Bhamla, I think you’re not very consistent. Argh. I hate girls from MIT.
P.S.S. I’ve achieved all my goals I set for myself in 2011. I’ll be updating soon with reports and new goals for 2012. Stay tuned. And I’ll be in Mumbai/Chennai through 27th Dec – 16th January. If you want to grab coffee/ go for a run, drop me an email.
