Splash 2012 – Magical Fluids and Lessons from the Hunger Games
It’s that time of the year again – Splash time. We had a blast last year at Stanford Splash and taught over a 120 kids about complex fluids and life lessons from Muhammad Ali. And this year, we’re back. With even more cool stuff.
So, I have a project report due tomorrow at 10 am and I just finished putting it together with my teammate. I was super anxious to just get done with it so I could come and prepare for my Splash class which is just around the corner. He looked at me curiously and asked me what Splash was. What? How could you be on the Stanford campus and not know about Splash is. Sacrilege! Blasphemy !
Anyway, I showed him the 2-minute teaser video to give him an idea. (Btw, our class features at 1:30. Yay!)
So, anyways. Just like last time, we’re doing the Magical Fluids class. We’ll have the corn-starch pool and are also going to play with Magic Sand (hydrophobic sand) and Magnetic Silly Putty. And we have so many co-teachers who have volunteered to help out. If you missed the boat and suddenly have last-minute desires to teach, you’re more than welcome to help us teach. The more the merrier!
In addition to this, I’ve floated a cool new class – Achieve Your Goals: Lessons from The Hunger Games. Ah, super excited about this one. I’m dedicating this to V – who I’ve just sent the Hunger Games books to and hopefully guilt her into doing a book-review for me.
This is super cool. Just like last year, I’m doing Splash again and just two weeks later, I’ll be running The Relay (a 200 mile race). Ah, somethings are just too awesome to do once in your life.
My candle burns at both ends;
It will not last the night;
But, ah, my foes, and, oh, my friends —
It gives a lovely light.
